Message from Pastor Jane:
WISDOM CALLS ALOUD IN THE STREET, SHE RAISES HER VOICE IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE
Proverbs 1:20
Once again wisdom tells us that there should be NO CHURCH SERVICES at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church this Sunday. Please stay safe at home and pray for those that are without food, heat or electricity. May wisdom guide our lives always and in all ways.
Prayer of the Day: God of all creation, all you have made is good, and your love endures forever. You bring forth bread from the earth and fruit from the vine. Nourish us with these gifts that we might be for the world signs of your gracious presence in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Lessons for February 7, 2010
Isaiah 6:1-8 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 Luke 5:1-11
Thought for the Day: All three lessons assigned for this Sunday have a common theme – a call as part of an experience of epiphany, Isaiah, Paul and Peter. Within the Lutheran community which likes to talk about the priesthood of all believers, it is common to say, following Luther, that all Christians have a vocation (a Latin-rooted word for “calling”), all are called to respond to God’s own call to renounce old paths and take on new directions. In this day and age we all have duall calls. The first is to our chosen vocation in order to earn a living to support the needs of our families. The second call is to serve our church, community and any in need. How can you expand your call to serve the church?
